NFU 59 with Essie Matte About You

I don't like the concept of matte nail polish, although there are a few exceptions. Also most of the matte polishes that I have tried look amazing with a top coat, so I have bought some =P

I believe that Essie's Matte About You top coat was created just for polishes with flakies!
Although they look amazing shiny, the flakes don't have to fight against the shine. The flakes seem to jump right out when using a matte top coat. Without further ado, here are some pics...
I might post some swatches for you tomorrow, or would like to see all the polishes that I received/bought this week?

NFU 59

I did say that I was saving the best for last. This is the first time that I wear this polish by itself. It is a nice Jelly, and this is 3 coats. Although it is still a little sheer, I feel like flakies need to be rationed =P
Anyway here it is... There are a lot of pictures, some showcase the base color, and a couple the flakies, I hope you enjoy!
This is a short and sweet post, since I have to get to work! It is not even light outside =(

China Glaze RED-CURL-GRL with Victoria's Secret Nice

I am on my 4 of 5 days for my RED week, and I am tired of reds!!!!!!!!!!! I hope that I am not boring you to death.

So I started with China Glaze RED-CURL-GRL, it is a very pretty red with pink glass flecks. Although I don't like reds too much, I LOVE a good pink, the hotter the better. I really like that this polish leans pink because of the shimmer.

The formula was amazing, the polish went just were I put it, and there was no need for cleanup! This is 2 coats.
And how do you know that I am tired of reds???

I tried Konading something to it, with the white konad special polish I have, and that was a total FAIL!, maybe if I tried it with a silver, or something. Frustrated with Konad, I went to look through my sheer polishes, I figured I should be able to find something that changes it a bit.

I ended up pulling out a polish by Victoria's Secret Pink Me Up, I think the name is nice multicolor micro glitter/shimmer on a clear base, so the red base will still peek through. I have no idea with VS doesn't label their polishes, the name labels are attached to the scan codes, which are removed once you take the plastic wrapping off. Anyway here it is...
I am saving the best red untried for last.............. NFU 59!!!
Can you believe that I have never worn it? I figured we might as well with something a little different for the weekend.

L'Oreal Bijou Crystals B Daring

I am in the middle of my RED week =P

Considering I only like reds in small/limited amounts, it will shock you to hear that I am loving this one. I got B Daring at a dollar store. I was not familiar with the Bijou brand, but they looked amazing in the bottle, so I bought a bunch. This is the first time that I am wearing this color, and it covered in 2 coats (the brush is weird!!!)
I couldn't quite capture the sparkle, it seems to shine! it is quite a beauty! I am hoping that the sun peeks out today so I may get a picture of it, if not take my word... AWESOME =P

I have 2 days left in my red week, and I think I am saving my favorite untried: China Glaze RED-CURL-GRL, and  NFU 59 (I think I can consider that one a red?)

Can you believe that my stash has broken through the 500's......(OMG!) I think I need to go on a no-buy... They are rabbits... I swear they just multiply all by themselves XD I will be sure to post pics this weekend of my newest additions, and swatches too.

American Apparel Downtown LA

I love the American Apparel nail polish!!!
Sorry I felt the need to shout it from the rooftops. After all the hoopla that has been going on in the Nail Blog sphere! If you haven't heard anything about it, you can read all about it here in Jezebel's blog.
I love that she writes that this nail polish is hazardous... newsflash ALL nail polish is hazardous! Don't drink it and I think you should be ok =P
Anyway about my gushing... American Apparel polish is great quality, amazing pigmentation! Most of the colors that I have tried have been 2 coaters, with the exception of Office. I can't wait for them to be back in store!
I currently own 6 of them, I am going to see what colors are released this Spring, 6 new colors are coming and I can't wait!

Essie Showstopper

Pictures like this one is why I try to carry my camera with me everyday! This is on my way to work, walking on 43rd Street heading from 6th Avenue to 5th Avenue. This is the Chrysler Building.

I am wearing Essie Showstopper because one of my favorite managers at work wanted to see a red. He is working the WHOLE week, so I want to bring a smile to his face. I will try to wear reds all week. Let's see how THAT goes as I don't really like reds. On an added note... I do have a ton of reds that are still untrieds!
This is 3 coats (I think I am becoming a habitual 3 coater) It is a dark red with a ton of gold shimmer. You can see the brush strokes, and I think it comes out looking a little metallic. It is an old formula Essie, and has all the old fashioned chemicals, which means that it stank!. I am not in love with it, but afterall it will only be on my nails for one day, so I don't have to live with it for very long.

Some swatching for you today =P

I swatched the rest of the nail polish that I had purchased at Sephora this week. All of these colors are included in their sale. These are all 3 coats.
I like the reds, Le Beau is a blue red, and Madame President is described as a primary red in the Sephora site, and I think I like Le Beau on me.
I don't know if I am loving any of these colors though... What do you think?

NYC 140B Empire State Building

I found this color while perusing the racks at Duane Reade (a drugstore chain in New York City). Every year at the beginning of the year they have a lot of their makeup on clearance. When old colors are being discontinued, which then is awaited by the anticipation of new colors coming in.

I found this color from NYC New York Color. It looks like a couple of the colors that I already own, although it did not seem as sheer. It is a turquoise color with a green shimmer/flash. I put on 3 coats of polish, and from afar they look almost teal. I like this color, even if they always lean a bit green on my skin tone. anyway without further ado...
Should I have done a 4th coat? I couldn't wait to show you guys this color!

As well as this color, they also have a new vampy plumish color. I have too many of those, so I did not pick it up.

Also... for anyone that is in NYC... It seems like Duane Reade is expanding their Sinful Colors collection. Remember to pick up your new Rewards card, and before Feb. 2nd (I think) you can get 10x the points on any purchase over $25. I am waiting until some new colors are available this coming week, and then I think I am going to haul a bit of drugstore polishes!

China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le

When I walked into the break room yesterday morning to get ready for work, a girl noticed my manicure (Metro Chic Matte) from across the room. She asked if it was a lavender, I said "not quite"; then she asked if it was gray, and I said "not quite".  So I walked over to her so she could see it close up =P

The part that surprised me was that she asked me if I owned a Periwinkle, at first I was trying to remember what the color looked like. I knew it was bluish, but I also knew that it was a bit complicated to describe. Then the flashlight went off and I remembered that I had a color with that in the name. So I figured I might as well wear it to work today so she can see it.

This is the first time I wear the color, and I love it!
The first coat was streaky, but after a 2nd heavy coat it was presentable.
The color is a little complicated, it is blue with a little bit of purple, a little dusty, just PERFECT!
Thank goodness for my daylight lamp! This is as close to the real color that I could get, I tried using different lights, and changing the color balance. I think by know I should just trust my lamp, and my flourecent2 setting in my camera =P

I saw the most astonishing thing on the subway today. There was a girl with highlighter yellow nails, and the ring finger was a neon pink. The best part was that the other hand was neon pink with the ring finger in yellow.  She was reading to her little boy, and I was sitting next to them. If she had not been occupied I would have asked her if I could take a picture of them, but didn't want to interrupt.
I told her that I loved her nails!

Sephora by OPI Metro Chic Matte with Sinful Fiodora

KittytoKaren this post is especially for you, since you wanted to see Metro Chic Matte =P This was my first request and I couldn't disappoint.
This time I remembered to take pictures of the polish in the matte stage, so there are lots of pictures to come.
This was 2 coats over a Barielle Natural Nail Camouflage, I need all the help I can get with Matte polishes, they show every single imperfection your nails have!
Of course I had to put a top coat on it. Metro Chic is a very pretty color, very different from the colors that I tend to use. This was 2 coats, and I think my application improved over the one I had yesterday with Domestic Goddess.
I took the first picture so you could tell the difference that the top coat makes on the color. I still don't like these mattes, they are too flat, and chalky.
I felt it needed something so I wanted to try Konading something, I used plate M63 with Sinful Fiodora (which I swatched for you last week)
The perfect title for my finished manicure is SUBTLE!!! This is an understatement. I must be getting good with Konad if I am showing you pictures of my right hand! The first picture is without a top coat on the design, so you can see it. Once I added the top coat the design melded into Metro Chic. Although it looks decent it was not what I was looking for. I must try this with a bright color, or even black!
There is a reason why I photograph my left hand...
it looks so much better than THIS wreck!
I hope you all enjoyed this Misadventure =P
